About The Series
This is a championship for people who want to learn and improve racing in the mighty V8 Supercars during European friendly time slots. Our races take place on Saturday evenings GMT.
This is an open setup series where our quicker drivers share setups, hints and tips and give advice and help to anyone who asks.
We use the Ford Mustang GT & Holden ZB Commodore. Both cars can be very daunting when first driven, but rest assured, if you stick with it you will learn and get better with each race and also improve your general race craft.
We encourage drivers of all abilities to join the series, learn and improve.
There are no minimum requirements for iRating or Safety Rating.
All of our races are shown live by Backfire Simsport TV.
The league is limited to 60 drivers and these places will first be offered to existing league members and we will offer any remaining places to the general iRacing public.
If 60 drivers sign up and pay we will then open a reserve list in strict sign up order.
If a league member drops out, or misses three consecutive race meetings without communication to the league admin, their place will be offered to the first reserve driver and so on.
Reserve drivers will need to pay the retainer fee in order to take their place on the grid.
As a league driver, please let us know if your circumstances mean that you will miss three race meetings or more.
We do not need to know why, we just need to know that you will be missing but still want to retain your place in the league.
Alternatively, if you do not wish to race with us any longer, please let us know so that we can promote a driver from the reserve list in your place.
Fee
There is a £10.00 fee which is payable to backfiresimsporttv@gmail.com via PayPal and needs to be in GBP.
Your registration will not be completed until your entry fee is received.
Liveries
As we have commitments to our series sponsors, all cars are expected to carry the mandatory series logos. These consist of our principal sponsor, Simability, on the front and rear windshield banners. We do supply car decal layers for both the Ford and the Holden that have the mandatory logos on them for car painters to check which area’s are used. All cars will have a decal layer added to the paint pack. We run a paint pack system instead of Trading Paints and all the instructions for this can be found on our website.
All liveries must be at bstvpaints@outlook.com no later than 8pm on the Friday before a race weekend. If your livery has not changed since the last race then you do not need to re-send it.
Your livery file must be in .tga format and compressed when saved. You also must name your file car_xxxxx with xxxxx being your iRacing ID.
We ask that you have permission from the owner(s), to display all logos on your livery.
Communication
We have our own Discord server for race nights and general chit chat.
Our broadcast comms is done via this server, including driver interviews, therefore you will need to be on the Discord server.
Voice comms on Discord is not compulsory but it will help you to learn different aspects of our league and enable you to interact with your fellow drivers.
There will be a separate team room created for you and your team mates only as well as our public rooms.
To join Discord, please visit www.backfire-simsport-tv.com
Please note, you may be involved in the interviews after the racing. To help our broadcasters, please ensure your Discord name is in the format of #car number > name eg. #111 John Smith. This is mandatory in our Discord server.
Championships
Simability Cup - Every driver in the series takes part in and scores points in this championship.
BSTV Team Championship - Teams consist of 3 drivers and the top 2 drivers in each team score in each round. The points scored by the 3rd driver will not count towards the team championship. Teams can also be solo driver entries, or a team of 2 drivers. Once a driver has signed for a team, he/she cannot change teams once the season has started. Drivers are permitted to go from being a team member, to being a privateer, but their team will lose any points accrued by the driver leaving.
Logan Jackson Safe Driver Award - All drivers compete for this award which is calculated on incidents per corner over the whole season. The winner must have raced in a minimum of 9 races.
Fred Bingham Forever Forward Award - All drivers compete for this award which is calculated on positions gained from your starting position.
Simability Head To Head - Drivers start the season in a group format and then the top 2 drivers in each group qualify for the knock out stages. A random draw will be made to place drivers in groups. Drivers joining the league after the draw, but before race 1, will be placed sequentially into the group stage. Drivers joining after race 1 will not be included in the head to head. (If any drivers tie in points for qualification to the next round, or in a head to head final, the driver with the least amount of incident points wins. If the drivers are still level then the driver with the best finish wins, then the second best finish. If the drivers are still level after this, the winner will be decided by punch up).
Drop Weeks - Drivers can drop one race weekend.
A drop week consists of all races in one race night.
The final race weekend of the season can not be dropped.
Race Sessions
Our series includes three types of races, Sprint, Feature & Endurance.
Sprint Races – These are the first races of our double header race nights. There are no pit stops and races are 30 minutes in duration.
Sprint races are held after the practice and qualifying sessions and are held in morning conditions.
Standard 15 minute qualifying.
Feature Races – These are the second races of our double header race nights. Fuel is limited and races are 60 minutes.
Random top 10 reverse grid.
Endurance Races – These are single race nights with limited fuel and races are 120 minutes in duration.
Standard 15 minute qualifying.
The session starts with a practice session held in afternoon conditions. This means that once the practice and qualifying sessions have finished, the race will start with late afternoon conditions.
There are usually multiple Free Practice events in the weeks leading up to each event.
Our servers start at 6pm UK on race days.
There will be a 1hr practice session followed by Qualifying and then the race. For race days with multiple sessions, you will need to disconnect from the original server at the end of the race and then wait for the subsequent server(s) to appear.
Race fuel is limited to 80% of a full tank.
We strongly suggest that you join any session through the LEAGUE > LEAGUE SESSIONS tab on iRacing as some drivers have had issues in joining sessions through the HOSTED tab.
Please note we need a minimum of 10 drivers to start a race. If this condition is not met, the race meeting will be removed from the calendar.

Bonus & Penalty Points
Pole Position - The driver gaining pole position from a qualifying session will receive 5 bonus points.

Drive Through Penalty - On reaching 15 incident points in any race, a driver will receive a black flag drive through penalty.
Schedule
Steward Reviews
From time to time things can get heated and/or mistakes may happen.
If you feel aggrieved by a situation, we ask that you do the following.
- Allow a 12 hour cooling off period before protesting (and protests received during the cooling off period will be deleted)
- View the incident from different angles and different cars
- DO NOT abuse any other drivers involved via voice or text
- If after reviewing the incident, you feel that you need to protest it, please use the protest form stating which race, which lap, and which cars were involved.
- The race control admin team will review the incident, give you an honest view on the incident, and apply penalties where required.
All decisions are final.
Drivers gaining a position using unfair means are expected to give places back.
We pride ourselves on sportsmanship and clean racing so if you recognise that you have unfairly gained a position, then please allow a position reversal to take place at your earliest opportunity.
Any driver found to be abusive towards another driver, on any of our media platforms, Facebook, Discord or iRacing, via chat or text will face a pitlane start for the next race they attend. A second offence will be penalised with a race meeting ban, and a third offence will result in the driver being excluded from the league. No arguments.
General
All races are “open setup” and our faster drivers will share setups with you, you just need to ask. Normally you will also find a race setup in the race post for each round.
Black flags will only be cleared during practice sessions. Our admins also race and therefore if iRacing deems you are worthy of a black flag for any reason, so do we.
We use iRacing dynamic weather so bear in mind that the weather conditions will change from session to session
You will get 1 free repair per race. Please note that any slight damage, even from taking a curb too vigorously can result in your free repair being used. You can turn this off and decide when you want to use your free repair.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact one of the admins or email one of us from the contact list below.
